We Need A Change!
I just ache inside when I read about this:
U.S. Military Suicide Rate
Apparently such advertising, promotional slogans "Army Strong" and "An Army of One" are overwhelmingly deceptive!

May our eyes be opened to truth. May we see the needs of our world. May we be inspired to vision and to action.

Actually, I'm surprised these numbers aren't higher. War is hell. We can't even begin to imagine what some of these guys have gone through. What I wish we knew was how these numbers compared with suicide rates of past wars. My hunch is that there isn't much difference.
Mental health treatment is available for soldiers. The question is, how do we get "macho" guys to go to therapy? Have a superior officer order them into it? It may be a stereotype, but there is some truth to it: guys in general just aren't into going to therapy.
War is hell. So is recovery.
Just my thoughts, as a person who suffers from PSTD and bipolar and has intimate knowledge of struggling with suicidal thoughts on almost a daily basis for 20 years before getting the right treatment...
That's a great point about getting guys to go to therapy in the military...I hadn't thought about that much. I wonder even how much access they have to therapy. Yes, you said it...war is hell.
